At present there are some 29 international students from Burundi studying in Ukraine at different universities for their desired courses.

International students from Burundi have always had great academic records in Ukraine, and that is the reason why Ukraine always welcomes international students from Burundi for their higher education thirst.

In Burundi, French is understood and spoken with some other regional languages, and they understand English too.

International students from Burundi are not good at English, so in their first year, they prefer to study at a preparatory faculty for the Ukrainian language, and upon completion of the language course, they join their desired degree programs.

Most international students study at state medical universities, while some at engineering universities.

ADMISSION PROCESS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS FROM BURUNDI IN UKRAINE

The admission process does not differ from the other African countries and is very easy and simple to follow.

International students from Burundi scan their secondary school certificate copy with an international travel passport copy for eligibility assessment in the email of admissions staff.

This process of assessment takes 1-2 days, and eligible international applicants are sent an email with an eligibility letter.

Once eligible international applicants receive the eligibility letter, they transfer the admission fee for an official study invitation by the Ministry of Education, Ukraine. After receiving the admission fee, we forward their documents for processing at the Ministry of Education, Ukraine, and the issuance process takes 2 weeks.

After issuance of an official study invitation, it is delivered to us, and we send a soft copy in the email of the international applicant.

After this, the original study invitation is couriered to the postal address of the applicant for visa processing, and the delivery of the invitation takes 5-6 days.

International students from Burundi who are found ineligible are asked to scan us more supportive documents for their admission.

PROMINENT COURSES IN UKRAINE AMONG INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS FROM BURUNDI

1: GENERAL MEDICINE

From Burundi, a few international medical students come to Ukraine to study general medicine courses at national medical universities.

Burundi nationals are good at French, so in their first year, international students from Burundi study at a Ukrainian language faculty in Ukraine and then join their general medicine courses at one of the national medical universities.

Burundi nationals are eligible to apply for admission in Ukraine provided they have passed their secondary school in Burundi or abroad.

2: PHARMACY

Like general medicine courses, international medical students from Burundi also come to Ukraine to study pharmacy at pharmaceutical universities working under the Ministry of Education, Ukraine.

Burundi nationals always study their pharmacy courses in Ukrainian as their medium of instruction after completing their Ukrainian language course at one of the Ukrainian universities.

Burundi nationals who are good at English study in Ukraine their pharmacy courses in English as their medium of instruction, as choice always remains with the international students.

Burundi nationals join pharmacy courses once they have passed their secondary school.

3: DENTISTRY

A few international medical students come to Ukraine from Burundi and join dentistry faculties.

Dentistry is offered in Ukraine with English and Ukrainian mediums of instruction, and as the official language in Burundi is French, they prefer to study in their first year at a language faculty and then join their dentistry courses in Ukrainian as their medium of instruction.

Burundi nationals study their dentistry courses at both degree levels in Ukraine, undergraduate and specializations.

Burundi nationals join dentistry courses once they have passed their secondary school with science subjects.

We are hopeful that in Ukraine the number of Burundian nationals will increase at dentistry faculties.

4: NURSING

Nursing is one of the favorite courses among international medical students from Burundi, and every year, a few international students come to Ukraine from Burundi and study nursing at national medical universities.

Nursing is also offered in Ukraine with two languages of instruction, English and Ukrainian.

Burundian nationals prefer to study in Ukrainian medium of instruction nursing courses in Ukraine after a 10-month language course.

International students from Burundi study nursing for bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Ukraine. International students from Burundi also come to study for an associate diploma in Ukraine.

For a diploma in nursing, international medical students from Burundi study for 2 years at nursing faculties in Ukraine, while for a bachelor’s in nursing, they study for 2 years more, and on the whole, it takes 4 years to complete a bachelor’s in nursing.

5: MASTERS

Master’s courses in Ukraine are offered in all areas of studies like medicine, engineering, and the arts, and from Burundi, few international students come to study in all these areas for their master’s.

To study at a graduate faculty in Ukraine, Burundian nationals should have a bachelor’s degree with them already.

Master’s courses are offered in both mediums of instruction in Ukraine, Ukrainian and English, and Burundian nationals study normally in Ukrainian as their medium of instruction for their master’s in Ukraine.

UKRAINE STUDENT VISA PROCESS FOR THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS FROM BURUNDI

Once the original invitation is received by the student in Burundi, he/she has to prepare the following documents for the Embassy of Ukraine in Kenya or Uganda, which are assigned for the national of Burundi for visa issuance.

1: Official study invitation by the Ministry of Education, Ukraine

2: Valid travel passport

3: Duly filled visa form

4: Educational certificate

5: Birth Certificate

6: Medical fitness certificate

7: Bank statement by sponsor

8: Photographs: 10 passport-size

9: Return air ticket

International students gather all these documents and travel to Kenya or Uganda for their visa process, which takes 2 weeks.

We advise checking all required documents carefully before traveling to the embassy of Ukraine in Kenya or Uganda, as missing any document will result in returning back to the homeland and wasting time and money.

Once the visa is issued, every international applicant scans us his/her visa copy with the return air ticket, as the admissions office needs to prepare reception documents for the immigration at Ukrainian Airport.
